Season 4: Episode 17: Pay to Play

After hip hop artist Hunter is gunned downed at a birthday party for Critical Mass Records founder Blanchard, the number one suspect is Hunter’s estranged best friend and aspiring hip hop artist Derek. The team believes jealously between Derek and Hunter was in play. Hunter’s widow provides new evidence revealing that a payola scheme hatched by Blanchard let to Hunter’s death, but she was immediately killed before finding out more. It turns out that Blanchard was not only paying radio stations to play his less popular artists, but he was also paying them to not play Derek’s music. Hunter knew Blanchard’s scheme and was killed for it.
